Get involved to LEAD A NEW FUTURE FOR YOUR ECONOMY
Benalla Rural City residents passionate about making a difference are invited to take part in the second stage of the Community Leadership Program — a hands‑on learning experience designed to build practical skills, spark collaboration and strengthen community leadership across our region.
Delivered by the Australian Centre for Rural Entrepreneurship (ACRE) and co‑hosted by Benalla Rural City Council, with support from the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), these engaging workshops are free to attend, with all resources, refreshments and catering provided.
Whether you’re already leading a community project or simply interested in stepping into a leadership role, these workshops will equip you with the tools, confidence and connections to turn ideas into action and help shape a positive future for Benalla.
Workshop 1 – Translating leadership into action
📍 Lakeside Community Centre, Benalla

Enjoy a free, hands‑on session with resources, refreshments and lunch provided.
Develop practical, collaborative techniques for guiding diverse groups of people to move from conversation to action, especially in complex situations.
Designed for people leading or interested in learning how to lead community initiatives.
12 spaces available. The 12 people who sign up to this workshop will be expected to also attend workshop 2.

Workshop 2 – Unlocking opportunity and moving to action
📍 Lakeside Community Centre, Benalla
📅 Thursday 30 April, 9.30am – 1.30pm
Free to attend with resources, refreshments and light lunch provided.
Local leaders and ACRE will co-host a workshop open to all community members and sectors to explore a shared question, unearth hidden assets and map a pathway for action.
This workshop aims to:
- Bring diverse voices together
- Identify aligned opportunities
- Establish practical commitments
- Build accountability and forward movement
